We Now Carry TANZITE Deck Stones
Tanzite STONEDECKS is a Canadian-developed, patent-pending, stone tile decking product. Used to build and resurface decks, stairs, landings, balconies, rooftops, patios and walkways. Like man-made diamonds, Tanzite is a stone made using incredible heat and pressure. This ensures you get a perfect stone, that is the perfect colour and will last in the harsh outdoors for a lifetime.
Tanzite is engineered to be flexible.
You can use it to re-surface an existing wood deck, a vinyl deck, a concrete landing, or stairs, or lay it directly on the ground. To build it new simply build a wood frame like you would for any other deck. Then you cover it with plywood, then with the provided one-piece EPDM roofing membrane. This is laid over top, just like a bedsheet.
The stone is then simply laid over the surface, there’s no glue, no thin-set, no grout. The outside edge is screwed down which holds the perimeter, and the rest is simply held down by gravity and an interlock with polymeric sand that acts as the grout. This means there’s no tile-setting work to do. SIMPLE!

If you’ve installed composite decking then you know the frustrations that come with it getting scratched. If you get boards already scratched then you have to switch them out, or the composite boards might be scratched by the delivery guy when he’s offloading them. You might just be working in your boots when you realize a small rock got stuck in the treads and now you have a scratch on the deck. This of course happens to a central board that is right where the customer will see it. Regardless, you have to replace the board so that the customer will pay the bill, even though you know it’s just going to scratch again in no time. These are not things you have to worry about, and things your customer will appreciate, and just what dog owners will love, with a Tanzite Stone Deck. It is also not slippery, at all!

Simply put, stone is stronger than plastic, so customers really like the stone option. If a homeowner finds out about stone decking, they want it. If they can afford composite decking, then they can afford Tanzite. If you are the one who showed them Tanzite, you’ve got the job, no competing with other deck builders!
“I had a deck-building business in Edmonton, Canada. After 15 years of building decks, I was building dozens a year. Then came Tanzite StoneDecks. At first, I just built a stone deck display in our office/showroom and I continued promoting and quoting decks the same as I always had, except when the client was in to look at their quote I would show them the Stonedecks option. To my surprise, everybody (except one fellow) switched and we sold more decks than ever that year. After that, I started promoting Stonedecks and over the next three years, I would go to building hundreds of decks per year.”
Pro Tip – What I would do is just grab a little rock and strike it against the sample piece of composite decking that the homeowner was thinking to use. Then I would grind that same rock on a Tanzite sample. Obviously, the Composite would scratch instantly but it wouldn’t leave a mark on the Tanzite. Then I’d explain that that rock could be stuck in a boot, a snow shovel, a dog’s claws, or a moving chair. That was it, now if the customer could afford Composite they were instead getting Tanzite.
